Compare
the Properties of Fibreglass to wood
Wood
is susceptible to destruction, in adverse conditions it can rot, shrinks
and is prone to insect attacks. It is hygroscopic in nature that is, it will
absorb moisture from its surroundings which makes it swell up. Similarly, in
dry conditions it releases the moisture making it shrink and prone to
scratches.
Whereas fibreglass never shrink or swell up absorbing moisture or liquid
on climate variations and hence we need not worry about it’s self destruction
or attacks from insects as it is a mix of chemicals and also a bad conductor.
Inbuilt colour is an advantage which will never fade and hence no maintenance
other than wiping off with soap water and a clean cloth is required.
Properties of Fibreglass
are corrosion resistant, high mechanical strength, low weight,
chemical resistant, electrical and thermal insulating, temperature resistant,
low thermal expansion, anti-magnetic, no sparks, electromagnetic transparent,
custom colours, easy to machine, low maintenance and reduced transport costs.
